On 29 September 1999, at the Cultural Centre of the Foundation of the Hellenic World, a multi-dimensional exhibition was inaugurated entitled "Krossia, Chitones, Doulamades, Velades - 4000 years of Hellenic costume", which was co-organised by the Foundation and by the Peloponnesian Folkrore Foundation. The exhibition examines the development of Hellenic costume through time, from Prehistory to the beginning of the 20th century. Aiming at an original as well as a spectacular approach to the subject, it uses as exhibits hand-made costumes copies of the originals, objects related to costume such as looms, photographic material, but also modern audiovisual aids. A special atmosphere was created by the original music by Stamatis Kraounakis and the videos with choreographies by Sophia Spyratou, which were directed by Konstantinos Tseklenis.

The event, which was covered by private and state channels and the press, attended reporters and people from the from the field of culture and art. The President of FHW Mr. Lazaros Efraimoglou and the President of of PFF Mrs. Ioanna Papantoniou received the guests and showed them around the area of the exhibition. Before the tour, Mrs. Papantoniou presented the people responsible for the event, while she made a special reference to the executives of the Foundation of the Hellenic World, who contributed in the planning and presentation of the exhibition.
